Position Description:

The Health Information Specialist supports the Health Information Management Department operational processes by collecting and preparing documentation for entry into the Electronic Medical Record; scanning and indexing clinical documentation under supervision and providing customer services via phone and fax.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Answer phone, scan and index documents (500 different documents).
  • Ensure that HIPAA and legal guidelines are followed in all interactions with patients and handling of the medical record.
  • Report issues directly to the Health Information Management Lead.


Requirements

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Basic MS Office (Word, Excel & Outlook) is required
  • 6+ months professional experience in a Clerical or Administrator role is required
Assets:
  • Experience working with electronic medical records is strongly desired
  • 6+ months professional experience in an office setting using the telephone and computer as the primary instruments to perform the job duties is preferred
  • Healthcare or insurance benefits are preferred
  • Medical Terminology/Coding (ICD-9 and CPT) is preferred
  • 1+ years of Customer Service experience is preferred
  • Hospital, physician, or medical clinical is preferred
  • Medicare and/or Medicaid is preferred
  • Prior experience with scanning equipment is a plus
  • Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines
  • Ability to learn new software; IDX, Touchworks, ImpactMD and other Clinical software is preferred

Geek Squad Agents travel to client’s home to perform delivery and basic installation of home theater/satellite/multi-room audio, computer, and major appliance products, providing technical advice and assistance to clients. Installation ranges from basic audio/video connectivity to assisting other agents in fishing wires through walls for advanced home theater installations. Geek Squad Cadets typically ride along with agents for two-person installations but may ride alone on simpler jobs. All installation and computer repair service must meet the highest standards set forth by the Geek Squad while assuring a professional and safe working environment. About This Position

 Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Manager of Health Information Management Department, provides administrative support to the Health Information Management Department. Performs a variety of advanced and diversified administrative functions.

Experience
Three years of advanced administrative level secretarial experience including office procedures, word processing, spreadsheets, desktop publishing, accurate and speed typing and data entry. Demonstrated success and skills in a position which has included working effectively with the public.

Education
Minimum Education: High School Education or equivalent required. Two years of college preferred.

Special Skills
Possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to maintain accurate records and statistics. Working knowledge of desktop publishing. Ability to prioritize and follow through independently on standard and advanced work and projects with frequent interruptions.

Maintains strict confidentiality in all interactions. Exercises sound judgement in initiation actions and responding to inquiries. Ability to compose a variety of materials in presentation formats.
